Ending Structural Unemployment
While unemployment affects communities across the country, its impact has been particularly devastating among African American workers and their families. Their unemployment rate is twice that of any other group in the country and they face numerous obstacles to securing living wage jobs. In some states and cities, African American unemployment rates have reached Depression era levels. The following Foundation grantees are engaged in innovative organizing to address this issue.
