Announcement for 2008 Grant Application Process
The Discount Foundation will be accepting Letters of Inquiry (LOI) from non-profit organizations that are seeking support from the Foundation. The LOI should be no more than one page and it should briefly describe your organization and how its work meets one or more of the Foundation’s four major priority areas. It also should describe the specific project and activities for which you are seeking support from Discount. Do not submit any supporting material with the LOI.

Prior to submitting the LOI, please carefully review the Foundation’s website for a description of our priorities, which can be found on the About Us page. Also, please review Making Work Pay (the Discount Foundation Retrospective Report), and the list of prior year grantees.

All LOI’s must be submitted through the form linked at the bottom of the page no later than September 7th, 2007.

No later than October 26th, 2007, all organizations that have submitted LOI’s will be notified as to whether they have been selected to submit a full proposal to the Foundation. Please be aware that the Foundation will seek proposals from a very limited number of organizations. If selected, organizations must submit proposals on or before January 7th, 2008. Final decisions on grants will be made by the Discount board of directors in the spring of 2008, and all applicants will be notified in writing of the board’s decision by mid-May, 2008.

Limitations
Discount awards grants only to public charities. The applicant organization must be tax-exempt under IRS Section 501(c)(3) and a public charity under Section 509(a)(1), (2), or (3). The Foundation does not support capital campaigns, capital projects, endowments, government agencies, schools, religious programs, publications, research projects, tours, trips or services to individuals. The Foundation awards grants ranging in size from $10,000 to $25,000 once a year, usually in the spring. Unsolicited proposals are not accepted.

Geographic Focus
The Discount Foundation considers grants to qualified organizations working across U.S.

Please note: Current Discount grantees should not submit Letters of Inquiry.
